Shipping + Pick Up Info
Here you will find information on the shipping, delivery, and pick up options for your order. We ship high quality bare root plants from our farm in Ontario, Canada.
We are located in the beautiful wine country in the Niagara Region if you would like to pick up your order at our farm in Fenwick, Ontario.
When will I receive my order?
Canada Post is our carrier. When orders ship, you will receive an email with tracking number.
Peony Roots will be ready for pick up or shipping in mid October in the year that you purchase them. We want you to be more than happy with your purchase from us; therefore, your order will be fulfilled when conditions are best for the root. Peonies thrive + perform best when they are planted in the fall when they can establish their roots further prior to dormancy in the winter, rather than the spring.
Bare Root Roses ship in April and May of the year they are ordered.
Livestock (including bees): Can be picked up at the farm or delivered (fee) throughout the Niagara Region only
All Other Products (including potted plants): are shipped the week you order them.
Can my peony roots be shipped earlier?
Due to our location in Zone 6B, it can still be quite warm well into October. As a result, we cannot ship roots earlier. Peonies need to be planted in the fall.
We know the snow can fly early in Zone 3! Our Zone 3 customers have a lot of luck pre-digging holes ready to receive the root and add bagged soil over top. Luckily, peony roots love the cold and can still establish roots underground while temps are well below zero above ground. They also love our cold climate because they require a period of dormancy as a part of their growth cycle.
What to expect with your order:
Placing an Order: Once you place your order via the website, you will receive a confirmation email with your purchase. If you have any questions or concerns, please email us.
Where do you ship to?
We ship across Canada with the exception of honey (Ontario only). We do not ship livestock including chicks/goslings at this time.
How are shipping fees calculated?
Shipping rates will be calculated by weight and destination at check out. We ship using Canada Post Expedited mail so that you receive your order within 1-7 days from the time of shipment. Once they ship, you will be emailed a tracking number so you can follow your order in transit.
What is Your Order Cancellation Policy?
Orders cancelled within 48 hours of placement will be fully refunded. Orders cancelled after 48 hours of the time of order placement will be charged a 25% cancellation fee based on the order total.
Peony Roots: There are no refunds on orders cancelled after September 1st of each calendar year.
Livestock: There are no cancellation refunds on deposits placed on livestock orders including bees, chickens, geese, or sheep.
What if there is an issue with my order when it arrives?
If your order is damaged during shipping or there is a problem with your order, contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order so that we can evaluate your concerns for refund considerations.
What if I want to pick up my order at the farm?
We highly recommend the drive to beautiful wine country. We are located in the heart of the Niagara Region of Ontario, Canada in the little town of Fenwick where the fall foliage is stunning. We are just 1 hour south of Toronto and 1-1.5 hours east of Kitchener, Waterloo, and Guelph. So if you want to make a trip of it, your orders will be available for pick up at our farm gate BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
You will have the option of picking up your order at our farm when you checkout your order. We will contact you with dates/pickup windows and our address. Our farm is not open to the public. We operate by appointment only. Please no drop ins as this is our family home and a working farm not open to the public.
When should I plant my peony roots?
Prep your planting location prior to receiving your roots. Learn how to plant them in our article: The Perfect Bed: Planting Your Bare Roots. You should plant your roots as soon as you receive them unless you have concerns about your order. In that case, please contact us within 48 hours for a refund. We cannot issue refunds after planting as we cannot control the conditions and care. You assume liability for the growth and care of your plant.
What if I have an issue with my order when it arrives?
