Congrats! Your bees made it through the winter. Now what? Farmer Ang is also an educator by day. She'll chunk your learning so that it is manageable and give you the confidence you need to manage swarm and splitting season with your own hive(s).
Course Topics: Making splits/nucs, queening/requeening, swarm prevention
Best For: Beekeepers in their 2-5th year of beekeeping
Location: Forest Creek Farm Apiary-Fenwick, Ontario, Canada. (Niagara Region)
Time: 1 PM - 4 PM, rain or shine
What to Bring: Beesuit, gloves, smoker, water bottle. Dress for the weather. We will be outside.
What to Expect: Ang will teach you the theory, demonstrate what you've learned, and then you will practice some of the techniques on the FC hives. You will leave with a workbook with all you will need to know and remember when you go to make your own splits. The class size will be >10 people to maximize your learning.
By Request: Biosecurity is of the upmost importance on the farm. Please do not bring your own hive tools, they will be provided for you. If you have poultry or livestock, for our animals safety and the safety of your animals, please disinfect or use alternate footwear and leave your barn clothes at home. Diseases can travel on boots, clothes, and car tires.
